There are many benefits to island living. The most obvious are a relaxed atmosphere, having the chance to breathe in the fresh sea air every day, and a congenial community. Tropical living is impossible in city dwelling but the same ambiance can actually be replicated. Are you up for the Maori interior design?

Maori or tropical island design is one of the hottest styles or trends in interior design these days. This design covers just about anything from sports, modern to contemporary living. Jump start your island setting by using fine art, colorful furniture and accent pieces, paintings, etc.
What is island living without any plants?Find colors that signify your chosen theme including different shades of blue and other natural colors. Burlap material is a great choice for your wall covering. The Tiki also depicts island living with its bamboo bed sheets and shades.

Tropical plants are must-have decorative pieces when you want to go Maori. Use live or silk vegetation, even timber statues. Bring in palms (the natural types are best) to your living room.

Window treatments must be airy and gentle to the sight. Bamboo bed sheet colors should also be easy on the eyes. Other valuable options include bright colored drapes and sheers. Island prints are also the best pattern for your sheer curtains.

Various crafts can be acquired in order to come up with the Maori style. It is best to look through photographs that involve sugar plantations and areas that plant blueberries. You can also look for essential oil pictures that are linked to yachts and freight boats. And just to prove your point, go on and have pelicans, seagulls, turtles, whales and other forms of sea life as art inspirations.

You are showcasing no less than the beauty of Maori living so go all out.

Another design element that you need to consider in island living is the use of more space. This kind of lifestyle has to be inviting and comfortable. The designs must be relaxing especially inside the master bedroom and bathroom.

You can also adapt the same concept inside your children’s rooms. Many youngsters love the idea of being flanked by a lot of seashore images. They are also settled by the lively yet comforting colors.

Lavatories are organic pieces in any island inspired bathroom. As for the kitchen, make use of bamboo, wicker, and the open picnic stands. Outdoor desks are also welcome in this environment. A lovely Tiki hut can serve as the island in an outrageously spacious kitchen.

Another important part of Maori design is to achieve a clutter-free setting, hence, you would need a lot of storage regions. Add a dash of tropical colors, wicker baskets, fresh paint shelving units, and wooden partitions.

Decorative vs. Functional Lighting – Is There A Need to Choose?

Sunday, January 31st, 2016

Did this Maitland-Smith Lamps and Lighting Chandelier 1954-355 catch your attention? Imagine what your friends would say!

As opposed to what is being propagated, there is no need to memorize lighting fundamentals or even to spend a lot of money just to make rooms look airy and lively. There is no need to commit to memory the basics of decorative or functional lighting just to plan and be able to buy the right kind of light. Illumination can be achieved in three ways – through general lighting, accent and task lighting. Any fusion of these three is what you would call a decorative light.

Don’t think that home lighting is an unimportant subject, though. This is a crucial element of interior design because it is the very vehicle that allows homeowners to carry out tasks while providing the home with a lovely appeal.

You should consider your lighting decisions based on your chosen interior design. Pay close attention to lighting when creating new environments or when redesigning old ones. This may seem like a technical topic at first but do not be intimidated by it.

To simplify matters of lighting, let’s cut down the basics into three – the purpose of light, how man perceives color, and the three kinds of lighting.

Lighting Purposes

Lighting in homes and offices are there for people to carry out their daily work. Also, light provides a level of comfort that cannot be felt when in a dark setting. Aesthetically, light can emphasize artwork, displays and define shadows.

Lighting is also there for safety reasons.

Color Perception

The human eye responds to different kinds of colors. It is most amenable to the green and yellow spectra and less to the red and blue violet ends. When you come to think about it, this is relative to the spectrum of moods that humans feel.

A well-lit room creates happiness and a sense of well being. Dark rooms, on the other hand, elicit serious moods, even depression.

Light that falls on an object will be absorbed by the surface of that object. The colors that it reflects will be the color that will be perceived. So, in essence, purple is every other color in the universe except purple.

‘Confused already? Don’t be.

Okay, you do know that black absorbs all light while all light that is reflected is done by the color white (which is not even a color!).

Decorative lighting pieces can create serenity or cheerfulness depending on the mood that it depicts. Functional lights – like the ones found in offices – make people more alert. Decorative lighting is different because it makes you feel texture, patterns, even shapes.

Decorative lighting also comes in different levels. Dimmers are used for bedrooms while bright lights are left inside playrooms and the kitchen. Sometimes, the lighting fixture can serve as the focal point of a room. Such is the role of chandeliers and pendant lights.

Lamps and Lighting Uttermost Metauro Wood Desk Lamp 26577-1 is both decorative and task lighting.

The dining room, for instance, can look more elegant when a chandelier hangs right above it. Attention will surely be drawn towards this set up. Pendant lighting over a table can provide a more concentrated light. Chandeliers spell traditional and classy while pendants are more contemporary.

Lighting Types

You already know the three types of lighting which is spearheaded by general lighting. Also known as ambient lighting, these are up-lights that illuminate from the ceiling. Wall sconces are also general lighting fixtures as are floor lamps, table lamps, recessed lights, and track lights.

Task lighting is for areas that are in need of intense lighting. This is technically 300% brighter than general lighting. Such lights are used in offices, kitchens and other busy areas.

Accent lighting can add a level of shimmer to paintings, objects, architectural features, and sculptures. Halogen is the best known accent lighting that can provide brilliance and intensity.

Lovin’ Leather

Hooker Furniture Living Room Cognac Entertainment Sofa with 2 Glider Recliner-Stg Console

Hooker Furniture Living Room Cognac Entertainment Sofa with 2 Glider Recliner-Stg Console

For hundreds of years now, cattle hide was used to cover books, even to bind them. Cowboys from the West also used this material as a huge part of their outfit. Later on, leather became a luxurious addition to pricey car interiors. Today, it has dominated the world of fashion and interior design.

Many people just dream of owning a leather sofa situated inside their spacious family room. The smooth Italian leather can be used on a long sectional or that cute ottoman.

Leather can be mixed and matched or you can just pick a piece to balance the fabrics in a room.

Leather furniture pieces have the capacity to stand on their own in terms of aesthetic appeal and quality. Mix it with other fabrics or use it as base for fabric or silk covered cushions. It can also add a twist to your home if you use it on architectural detailing or finishing.

Leather has gone a long way from being a cowboy hat or boot. It is now the star of many furniture shops. McCreery’s Home Furnishings offers the best leather sofas and chairs. If you want to go beyond furniture pieces in utilizing this wonderful material, then have it installed as a part of your flooring or walls.

Wood wainscoting may be a lovely design idea but you can surprise everyone by using leather tiles. What you will get is a unique and sophisticated look. You will be amazed on how this wall finishing can make a bland place appear more elegant if not sophisticated.

As to interior decor, there isn’t a material out there that can be more adaptable than the good old leather. It is versatile, meaning, you have the leeway to use it in modern settings or on timeless dwellings.

This is a wonderful neutral piece that should be used sparingly. It can be easily mixed and matched with different furniture groups which consist of upholstered pieces. Remember that too much leather can also make a room appear daunting and cold. Avoid this result by including just a single leather furniture as a feature piece. You can finish off with colorful accent pillows.

Leather also gets better with age so you won’t have to worry about replacing it soon. Leather furniture bought today will look amazingly wonderful two decades from now.

Shopping for Leather Furniture

Not all leather items come with the same standard. Some leather grades have a higher quality than the rest that are being sold in the market so it is up to you to distinguish which ones you will take home.

Identifying genuine leather is a matter of getting used to the touch and appearance of this material.

Full grain leather is the la creme dela creme of all leathers. This is also the toughest kind. A basic way to find out full grain leather is to search for scars and other small imperfections. If nothing has been done to hide such, then these natural imperfections will point to the genuineness of the material.

Top grain, on the other hand, is a notch below full grain. The split layer is taken off from the layer of the top grain. Majority of the imperfections have been removed, thus, making the piece look a tad like plastic.

Corrected grain leather is manufactured hides that contain bite marks, scars and many imperfections. Such imperfections are unsuitable for sofas, hence, they were removed through buffing and pigmentation.

Lastly, faux leather can also be a great alternative but your concerted effort should be centered on inspecting edges, examining the pores, and touching the skin. Real leather can have a course feel and it has a distinct smell that can never be replicated in any manufacturing shop.

Gold Accents: Tough Yet Rewarding Choice

Maitland-Smith Living Room Bench 4230-377 has gold accents on its wooden frame. The animal print on the fabric makes this piece leap to life.

The use of gold accents in interior design is not an easy decision to make. It can be a tough style to work with. You are required to understand the fundamentals of this bright and interesting hue. The good thing is, today, you’ll get that much-needed help.

First of all, you have to be confident with the idea that gold can be used sparingly. Some touches of gold on your furniture can offer great wonders.

Golden Ideas

Have you ever thought of pairing gold with black? This may not be your instinctive choice but many have found that the union of these two interesting hues can bring elegance in any room. Black and gold borders on tables can definitely spell a huge difference in a dining room.

Wallpapers with a dash of gold can also elevate the room’s sophistication. This should warm up the room and give it a cozy feeling in no time.

Gold accents can also be the glue that fuses masculine and feminine room features. Furniture frames also look classy with a hint of gold on the exposed frame or on the fabric.

Femininity is best embodied with the use of gold and white. This is a union of hues that can look great on different wallpaper designs. The bedroom can make use of this superb color application.

When it comes to coloring, blue and neutral colors will also be great bases for gold accents. Every color will surely stand out as gold frames and highlights it.

Go Bold

If you are not contented with mere gold accents, then you can go ahead and use gold in interior design. This is a much bolder move that you might want to think and plan about first. The first rule here is to use varying shades of gold so that you won’t be bored with the monotonous feel in the end.

Gold is also a lovely color to use during the winter months. So when the winter season comes, make sure that you go bold and give your home a touch of luxury.

Gold can be your best decor during the coldest months because it automatically brings warmth and luxury in a room.  Gold accents work best in neutral colored rooms. Yellow or ochre can be combined with gold to create a glow that works well with earthy colors.

More than wallpapers or mirrors in gold, the golden fireplace can add a shimmer that will cast a warm glow throughout your home’s interiors. This can add a dramatic effect without the hassle.

Gold is a versatile hue so go ahead and use it on your feature wall. Use it sporadically inside the bedroom since this is where you rest but, in the lounge area, it’s alright to go all out.

Gold fabric is also a great way to add opulence in your home.  Use it on your cushions, curtains, blinds or throws (but not all at the same time). Gold curtains can come with gold fitting and accessories. Trim and fringes for window treatments are also perfect in gold. And what of golden tassel tie backs? They are nothing but amazing.

‘Love tellin’ the time? You will with this Accessories Uttermost Torriana Wall Clock 06091.

‘Love tellin’ the time? You will with this Accessories Uttermost Torriana Wall Clock 06091.

Gold printed fabrics are also available to mix and match. These fabrics pair well with earthy colors like brown, beige, taupe or green. Plain and gold fabrics can ideally help in setting up the winter interior design.

Adding gold to animal prints is an effective way of telling the world that you are unique.

Lamps and light fitting are yet another basic way of adding glow to your home. Choose from the gold-colored lamps or the ones in brass. Ceiling light fitting is both modern and simple. It can also be traditionally ornate like chandeliers.

Focal features in gold are truly what they are – a focal piece.  After all, gold is an eye catching color so what better way is there than to use gold ornamental pieces. Gold accents can be wall art, gold clocks, or golden ornaments – take your pick!

Breakfast Nook: Where Cozy Dining Begins

Saturday, January 30th, 2016

Winners Only Dining Room 42 Inch Farmhouse Round Table With 2-8 Inch Drop Leaves 54242F. This two-seater table should look perfect on that tiny space that you’ve allocated for your breakfast nook.

Okay, admit it. You are one of those who run out of the door the moment you finish taking a sip or two of your orange juice. Whether you are this fast-paced person or a laidback one who loves to spend weekend gatherings with her family, then you know how important dining areas are. But the dining room can sometimes have an aura of formality, one that you might not want all days of the week. Casual dining begins with the breakfast nook.

The breakfast nook is an ideal place to spend your simple weekend gatherings as a family, also a quiet corner as you finish your bowl of oatmeal in the morning. It’s time to relax over your morning food.

The breakfast nook can come in any style that you want but there are simple guidelines to follow.

Seating and Table Guidelines

Unlike dining spaces which are more formal, you have to find a seat for your cozy nook before you shop for the right table. Traditionally, the nook is built in a corner right where two walls converge. L-shaped layouts work best.

Choose from a series of cabinetry, cushions, and seats. Carefully consider what you would place as a window seat, bench or settee.

Other choices for the nook are the regular dining chairs that can be placed against the window or a wall. Pedestal tables can effectively save space and you won’t have to worry about bumping on your loved ones’ knees as you enjoy your morning meal.

There is no one particular design that fits all types of breakfast nook. In fact, the table that you eventually pick should fit your preference on seats, the size of your family, and what shape you would want for your cozy corner.

Whitewashed pieces are great when you want to achieve a cottage appeal.

Canadel Dining Room Upholstered Seat Bench BEN89025TD-24. Choose your seating piece well since you only have a limited space to work with.

Canadel Dining Room Upholstered Seat Bench BEN89025TD-24. Choose your seating piece well since you only have a limited space to work with.

Lighting Tips

Don’t even think about mounting a light fixture onto the ceiling. Find pendant light or a small chandelier that comfortably hangs at 30 to 34 inches above the table.

Traditional spaces can use smaller chandeliers that are made of metal or wood. If you really favor the farmhouse look, then find painted or tole chandelier. Metal flowers can have a classic effect.

For a more modern look, use pendant lighting with barrel shade or an art glass.

Flooring Options

Kitchens are often installed with hardwood flooring. This is because of the heavy foot traffic that is expected in this area most days of the week. You can soften the tough look of hardwood by placing a rug that is the same size as your breakfast nook table and seats. This rug defines the area while providing your feet with a comfortable feeling as you eat your breakfast and enjoy reading the newspaper.

Find a rug that can be easily spot cleaned. You can also buy a patterned or colorful rug that can hide visible stains.

Window Treatment Selections

Even when the breakfast nook’s windows are already shady, it is still pays to have an added amount of privacy by installing minimal window treatment. Such can add color, texture, pattern and warmth to your nook.

Woven shades can filter light while not totally blocking the natural light that comes in. Add patterns by having valances, cornice boards or faux shades. Should the windows face the street, then you should find a window treatment that lets in light while not having the diners feel uncomfortable because of passersby staring at them.

You will also need to adjust the window treatment if your breakfast nook sits in the east. Make sure that it can protect your eyes from the glare of the morning sun. Consider louvered shutters, fabric shades or plain blinds.

Accessorizing the Nook

Say no to fussy pieces since you are just decorating a small area. Say yes to some throw pillows, bench, tie-on chair pads, tissue holder, and other simple yet decorative pieces. Personalize the area by bringing photographs and artwork.

Now that you’ve created the breakfast nook, an intimate spot, let’s hope you enjoy more cheerful mornings and create happy family memories in this area.

Candelabras are candle holders which can support two or more of these lighting pieces. Most of these are now decorative in nature, with the artist carefully placing an awesome display. A single candle holder is known as a candelabrum.

The word candelabra comes from the Latin word for candlestick. People have been using candles for many, many years for lighting purposes. Even in the ancient times, people have paired these candles with candelabra.

In the beginning, candelabra were utilized to increase of the amount of light in a room. In the next centuries, however, their role when it comes to enhancing the ambience slowly became apparent. Pretty soon, churches, social gatherings and stages were already using them.

Candelabra are now equal to glamour, chic, stylish and romance. Place one in any room and in an understated manner and you will find more and more guests marveling at their beauty.

Candelabra can also be used during weddings. Just position some by the entrance hall or right on the guests’ tables. These can serve as stylish center pieces. Also, during Christmas, ornately designed candelabra can be placed atop festive tables.

The dining table can be enhanced with lovely candelabra. Nothing can be more dramatic than this central piece. Think of a special occasion that you attended wherein you noticed how the house glowed with warmth and the homeowner probably set up a number of candelabras for guests to appreciate.

Which Candelabra Should You Buy?

First, consider what you are going to use them for. Are they going to be added as decor? Or will they be used to light a room?

You must also consider the kind of material and the style that your candelabra will have. Of course, it is paramount that you consider your preference.

Candelabra Types

Various candelabra in high quality are now available in our shop. The most common designs that you can look for are – the fountain dropper, crystal droplets, hanging candelabra, glass tea light, standing, and cake candelabra.

The fountain dropper is decorative as it comes with pearl beads or crystals. These gems are attached to the branches with each flowing to the base.

Crystal droplets come in different sizes. There are smaller versions in sparkling dots or the bigger types with diamond-like gems. These effectively catch the light and can magnify the glimmer of candles.

The hanging type is great to use outdoors. Those who choose to bring it indoors should make sure that it is paired with exposed beams or ceilings. The glass tea light candle holder is made to hold many small tea candles also known as votives. It can offer a vintage appeal and is best used in shabby chic settings.

The standing candelabra have a huge impact in any setting because of their sheer size. Often used in pairs, they offer subtle symmetry as well as balance in any environment.

Lastly, the cake candelabra are placed atop iced cakes to hold birthday candles. These are novelty items that are charming and impressive.

Candelabra Care

Just like any candle holder, you need to regularly clean the candelabra. First, never leave them unattended when the candles are already lit. Standing candelabra can be anchored to the floor but for all others, you have to find a way to make them more stable.

Find a specialist cleaning agent to remove wax. Always use protective gloves when handling hot candelabra.

Hardwood Furniture: Characteristics and Benefits

Biltmore desk from FFDM. It may be traditionally classy but it also comes with modern features to accommodate your gadget needs.

There is reason behind the liking for hardwood furniture among sophisticated homeowners. This kind of furniture can provide a different level of appeal in any home.  While both softwood and hardwood materials are great for furniture creation, there are benefits and disadvantages for both.

Hardwoods come from angiosperm trees which produce covered seeds. This is a sturdy material that has been used for centuries in the manufacture of furniture and flooring, too. It is heavier, harder and classic looking when compared to many kinds of softwoods.

One of the best examples of a hardwood is the good, ol’ reliable oak. Oakwood is super solid and has been used in manufacturing heirloom furniture pieces. Oakwood bedroom furniture sets look elegant and will surely leave a lasting impression with anyone.

There are many styles of hardwood furniture that can be found in the market these days. If you want to use a classic, contemporary, traditional, periodic or rustic theme, then this is the material to acquire. All hardwoods are solid and long-lasting.

HARDWOOD. ffdm biltmore

Biltmore pieces come with durable and beautiful hardwoods that will make your home stand out.

Hardwood Furniture Advantages

It may be tempting at times to just choose furniture made with inferior materials since they are cheaper. But that is all that they are – inferior. You will, eventually, spend more as you buy a replacement for the low quality furniture which you settled for.

So, to save yourself a lot of money and energy, even time, consider buying hardwood furniture in the first place. Hardwood furniture is an investment that can give you a lot of benefits. First on this list is its natural beauty.

Mahogany, oak, mango and acacia are all naturally beautiful. They automatically up the level of warmth and coziness in your home. Genuine pieces of hardwood furniture are not difficult to spot. Just run your hand through the surface of the wood and you would know that you are touching the right thing.

Another benefit that comes with hardwood furniture is its sturdiness. Invest in quality oak or mahogany furniture and this will surely become an antique years from now. Hardwood even improves with age and is even built to outlast the owners. This means that hardwood furniture is the perfect kind of heirloom piece that you can pass on to your posterity.

Toughness also comes with all the other benefits of hardwood furniture. Of course, you already know that buying cheap flat-pack pieces can be easily damaged by children and pets. Traditional woods can withstand scratches and even bigger problems. They are repairable and can be polished to look new all the time – this you cannot expect with cheap furniture.

The classification of wood as to its hardness or softness comes down to its physical characteristics. While it is generally true that hardwoods are harder than softwoods, there are also exceptions like in the case of yew. This is classified as softwood yet it is relatively hard. Balsa, on the other hand, is a type of wood that is much softer than most softwood.

Hardwood vs. Softwood

Most hardwoods are used in the creation of sturdy desks, cabinets, flooring materials, and decks. Softwood is used in some building components although most are used in paper manufacturing and the creation of medium-density fiberboards.

Hardwood furniture pieces are also easy to clean. To maintain, all you would need is daily dusting and an occasional application of polish or cleaning with mild detergent.

Minimalism is a way of life that is slowly being embraced by a lot of people all over the world these days. Today, society prides in the accumulation of wealth and possessions but there are a handful of people who believe that real joy can be found with fewer of this stuff.

Less Is More

Here are some of the benefits that come with minimalism –

  • Less expenditure
  • Less stress
  • Minimalist homes are easier to clean
  • A sense of freedom from comparison
  • Environmentally good
  • Increased productivity
  • Visually appealing

A minimalist home is architecturally linear and organic. The dominant material used in building the minimalist structure is the rock. Wooden materials are also typically found but they come in fewer presentations.

An interior that is minimalist also features minimal furniture pieces. You will find only the usable pieces that are also suitable to the theme in a room.

MINIMALISM. Hooker Furniture Home Office Saint Armand Peninsula Desk 5600-70424

Hooker Furniture Home Office Saint Armand Peninsula Desk 5600-70424 was named after a Belgian missionary who was later granted the sainthood. Saint Armand is now the patron saint of wine makers, merchants, and beer brewers. This desk has an organic appeal with a russet-colored finish and a simple rustic knob.

Minimalism also means clean surfaces with very minimal to zero engravings or ornamentation. It is easy to clean because there are no complex textures and layers, the lines are simpler and clutter-free.

Should you ever consider using the minimalist design in your home, then consider what accents you will be bringing in. Remember that minimalist settings should be simple and clean not boring. Minimalist accents, therefore, should also be used in order to neutralize the looming monotony that comes with simplicity.

An example is a home painted in gray which can be made more exciting (but on a subtle level) by hanging paintings and other kinds of artwork. Special lighting may also be used to highlight the artwork. You will have reached a different level of elegance once you are able to carry this out.

Minimalism also means prioritizing quality over quantity. The less stuff you own, the better for you. Minimalist homes may have less stuff but every one of these is in use and is guaranteed to reach their full potential.

The tendency of homeowners to choose the minimalist interior design is not only because they want to follow trends or that they are bored with the architecture of their homes. Minimalist interiors are often the representation of a person’s want to change his lifestyle.

Those who become minimalists choose to become highly mobile and practical. They are also more efficient yet their homes are not aesthetically ho-hum.

Minimalism is a philosophy that encompasses many aspects of a person’s life. In terms of home design, it should be a clean, open space that embraces simple architecture, streamlined furniture and simple materials.

In A Nutshell

To reiterate how a minimalist home should look like, always remember that you should be straightforward when it comes to the functions and form, even the general layout of your home. Uncomplicated and predictable spaces are your abode.

As to the cladding and wall finishes, your choices should be those that show a continuous line while still providing a pleasant visual appeal. A boring facade will be livened up by cedar slats and a blue-colored door.

Open and light-filled spaces especially in the living area and kitchen are a must. Light, in abundance, creates ambiance of openness.

Use light colors on your walls and be sure to remove any kind of clutter. Embrace a neutral colored palette as much as you can. If you have to use color, do not splash them liberally.

As to the furniture, be sure to use only those that have functions. Find zero frill cabinetry, uncomplicated trim details, and simple stairs. Use materials strategically so that you can achieve simplicity in texture, visual interest, even personality.

Achieve these things and your home will surely be the epitome of minimalism.

If you have an artistic flair that needs to be satiated, then you might feel that your home is in need of a shot of color. The latest geometric accent pieces and wallpapers can give your home that needed lift.  Imagine still feeling energized even during the dreary winter months as nothing can compare to bright and bold patterns when it comes to invigorating the senses.

A Daring Move

Geometric patterns are the hottest topic in interior design these days. Chevrons and stripes have been dominating the headlines in many interior design magazines for a long time. This trend is here to stay but if this is your first time to embrace this bold style, then it is advisable that you take it easy.

Do not run and invest in the boldest carpets and wallpapers all at once. Fine patterns that are unique which will surely pass design fads. The usual stripes and chevron patterns can give a feeling of modernism and youthful vibrancy. While this is so, you need to consider the overall style of your home so that the geometric patterns you are going to bring in will fit.

It is not difficult to create subtle yet sophisticated looks just by looking for a muted neutral shade then slowly layering with a bold mix of colors and hip patterns. Just make sure that you use bold patterns sparingly or you would be left with a room that confuses the beholder.

Consider Your Mood

It is also crucial that you think about the mood that you would want to project in your home. Soothing and relaxing places are your bedrooms and the living room. You can still use graphic prints in these rooms but limit your color palette to the soft and calming hues. You can also extend this same cozy effect to your master bathroom and all other bathrooms in your home.

As for the kitchen, dining area, the hallway, and rooms where foot traffic is almost constant, go ahead and splurge on those vibrant wallpapers. These are now available in many exciting patterns and colors. They are sure to energize the entrance hall and would leave a lasting impression with any visitor.

Never be limited by the thought that geometric patterns are for contemporary homes only. There are many options for just about any theme that you can think of. For the more traditional styles, then add glamour through subtle geometry. As for modern themes, the sky’s the limit pretty much.

Draw some inspiration from different eras, for instance, if you feel inspired to use materials from the Art Deco period, then find linear patterns, subtle curves, and monochrome or metallic colors. If you want contemporary styles, then find wallpapers in a ‘60s vibe. These could have a dizzying effect at first but you will soon appreciate the unique vibe that they bring in to your space.

You can also opt to use two-tone geometric patterns or have those harlequin-like patterns of diamonds and a spectrum of colors. Should these remain uninspiring to you, then choose a mixture of eighties design, palm leaf and bold shapes.

It is not advisable to decorate an entire room with geometric patterns. Less is more with this kind of style. Also, it is not just for the brave and daring homeowners who would set up a feature wall; it is also a style that can fit a person with delicate personality.

Wallpapers are not the only stuff that you can bring in. See the metallic geometric shapes below and you would know that geometric design can also be a decorative element.

Featuring geometric artwork is also a welcome move as are the use of rugs, carpets and furniture that show interesting patterns and textures.
