6 Impressive Ways to Display Photos

Friday, April 5th, 2019

The American Cherry Suffolk Lowboy: The traditional way of displaying photographs is in beautiful frames that match the furniture in your home.

Since the time when phone and digital photography became accessible to everyone, there were no longer a lot of people who print photographs. This is a sad thing because looking at digital copies is not the same flicking through those pieces of pictures and reliving the memories.

Did you know that you could actually display photos of you and your family, even your most fun travels and have them become a decorative part of your home in the process?

Here are ways that you can immortalize those lovely moments right in your home –

Tucked in Your Mirror Frame

Okay, here’s a pro tip – please do not flood the mirror frames with narcissistic selfies. Cast those aside for a moment and post, not on Instagram or Facebook but in a mirror frame, the photographs that actually mean a lot to you.

That simple mirror corner is a casual part of the mirror but it can also hold memories that you have long forgotten. Were you lucky enough to go to Paris? Then have those photos printed and display them by tucking them in your favorite living room mirror.

If the mirror does not have the usual lip, then you could use a blue poster tack which can help the photos stay put. These can be easily removed come the time that you want to display other photos.

Onto a Magnetic Surface

Another wonderful way to create a photo display is on a magnetic surface. You can add a lot of photos in just a matter of minutes. The refrigerator method may have been overdone quite a bit by now so it’s time to find a different magnet board, perhaps, a magnetic wall or a railing on the stairs going up to the bedrooms.

In a Wicker Basket

What else could a wicker basket be used for apart from putting toiletries or important documents? Nope, not your towel display but a bunch of photos!

Imagine having a bunch of photos placed inside a beautiful bowl or a tray. And imagine if you have more and they’re now displayed in a wicker basket.

Your friends and relatives will surely have a great time reminiscing the happenings in those photographs once they get their hands on them. You won’t even have to worry about starting conversations because those photos are surely going to keep hours of conversations going.

Taped on Walls

Picture frames are the traditional ways to display your photos in your home, whether that’s in the living room, bedroom, the dining area, or even in the busiest room such as the kitchen.

Old photographs can be grouped according to year or events or places. The categories depend on you. As soon as you’re able to pick a few that you surely enjoy, you can tape those to a wall and create a collage that is now the focal wall of that room.

What could be more artsy than that?

In Mason Jars

Why not?

One photo can be placed in an upright position inside a mason jar. What could be simpler than this? You won’t have to worry about hanging them at the right height anymore. All you have to do is to figure out how which tabletop to put the jars onto so that they create the most amazing effect.

Under the Coffee Table Glass

Imagine displaying pictures of your favorite family vacations right where the guests could get a good view of them each time. And here’s an even more amazing thing – you won’t have to worry about them destroying the photo.

You can even layer the photos so that you create a chronicle of your most recent trips with your family.

Exciting Things to Happen to Your Basement This 2019

Tuesday, March 5th, 2019

Did you know that there are also trends for basement design? There are different paths to follow if you want to use these trends to totally reinvent the look of that room below the ground.

Open Space Layout

You might have already heard of open space layouts for kitchens. These grow in popularity each year as walls are toppled down to reveal better designs. Imagine your basement being altered to an entertainment area fused with the kids’ playroom.

It’s the perfect setup. The mom and dad can enjoy a movie or two while the kids play just a few feet away.

Now this setup isn’t for everyone, though. While open space floor plans are a hit in many interior design and house flipping shows, it’s definitely not the layout for every single family there is.

Add this Wesley Allen Bedroom Otsego Day Bed for your guest’s more relaxing stay in your basement guest room.

Guest Room

Another way to utilize the space underneath your home is to turn it into a guest room. People are even renting out this space for other people if they decide not to turn it into a room for their visitors.

The basement is a private zone and all you need to do to complete the remodel is to add all the amenities that guests would need.

So what are these amenities?

First, there has to be a TV set that would keep your guest entertained; a notepad, telephone, and an alarm clock by the bedside; there must also be a wardrobe or at least a drawer.

Be sure to check the temperature down there. If it’s too cold, then have a heating system installed. Make sure that there’s a WiFi password written somewhere.

Check the bedding to make sure that your guest will feel comfortable. Having a pair of slippers for the guest would give your guest room a hotel vibe.

A Home Theatre

What could be a better use for your basement than this?

The natural acoustics down there are perfect for a home theatre. All you will need to add are comfy couches (preferably sets of recliners), a large flatscreen TV, DVD player, a stellar sound system, carpeting, and shelves (for the DVDs and other collectibles that you want to display in the room).

Home theatre customization can be as high as $3,000 or more so prepare for this remodeling project.

Upgraded Storage Area

You may have already used this room as a storage area but who’s to say that you can’t improve it some more?

If the basement storage has become a complete mess, then it’s time to upgrade it with these additions –

  • Shelving units that can hold more boxes and storage baskets
  • Labels on boxes and containers so that you know which items go where.
  • Waterproof containers only so that you won’t have to worry about messy items should the basement ever be flooded.
  • An area where the future donations to charities should be stored.

If you’re still having a hard time organizing the rest of your stuff, then you can always hire a professional organizer. Average cost for hiring such an expert is anywhere from $30 an hour up to $425.

Maitland-Smith Accessories Bar Cart, Black Eglomise Top 8101-36

A Stylish Bar

The basement bar is now a popular trend, too. You can have this as a standalone room or it can be fused with the home theatre or entertainment area.

Here’s a rule for home bars – be sure to store liquors that you and your friends actually like. Wine and hard drinks aren’t just there as decorative items. They should be enjoyed, too.

You can begin small with just vodka, gin, scotch, bourbon whiskey, rum and tequila. After keeping stock of all the right spirits, you can then shop for the bar cart (or cabinet), glasses, and other bar accessories.

Evaluate Your Home’s Feng Shui

Tuesday, February 26th, 2019

Maitland-Smith Accessories Brass Pig with Dish is auspicious this year of the Earth Pig.

Did you know that the words feng shui actually mean wind and water, respectively? To the Chinese, this is all about the environment’s effects on the lives of human beings. They believe that energies exist in the environment, water, landscapes, mountains, etc. All these natural forces can significantly impact every person.

Since this is so, people should be in the best location to become recipients of the best energies that are meant to improve their health and wealth. On the other hand, people who find themselves in the midst of bad energy are believed to encounter bad luck.

Feng Shui, therefore, is the Placement Art since knowing its rules will help people create an environment that’s geared towards prosperity and health. This is an age-old technique has been among the Chinese people and they have used it to optimize the harmony in their homes and work spaces.

You, too, can create a harmonious and healthy environment if you apply this knowledge. You can use Feng Shui to –

  • Pick a prosperous area where you could build your house.
  • Choose the best house orientation for maximized prosperity.
  • Create an auspicious interior design for the different rooms in your house such as the bedroom, living room, kitchen, home office, etc.
  • Place the furniture where they will bring in only the positive energies.
  • Pick the lucky colors for every room.

A spot Feng Shui analysis involves a thorough inspection of the directions and dimensions of a space. The consultation will then be based on these readings as the birth data of the house’s occupants are taken into consideration.

The detailed study of the interiors, physical environment, and the occupants’ data all lead to the Feng Shui consult that will be discussed. A physical inspection of the house must be done to provide the needed information.

Check the Outdoors

A huge part of the Feng Shui consultation is to begin by studying the outside of a house. If you live too close to, say, a railroad, then there’d be an effect on the energies that will flow towards your house. Houses that have sloped backyards tend to have challenging Feng Shui so an expert is supposed to realign the energies.

The outdoors must have a garden no matter how small because it will surely invite good energies.

Entryway Feng Shui

Improving the front door Feng Shui is easy. Just don’t block the entry with old pots, recycling bins or shoes and you should be fine. Since you’re supposed to channel and welcome good energy, then make sure that there is no staircase that’s directly facing your front door. Make sure also that the front door is not directly aligned to your back door.

Remember that the front door serves as the mouth of qi (chi) so this must be given ample attention during Feng Shui consultation.

Living Room Feng Shui

The living room is a pretty busy area in any home this is why you should have nothing but good energy there. Check the baguas that you place in that room as well as the family room.

The bagua or pa kua is a Feng Shui tool that’s known to provide energy for homes, offices, and gardens. This is the energy map of any space which are connected to particular areas in your life.

Bagua means eight areas and these correspond to the eight areas of a person’s life namely –

  • Family and health
  • Wealth
  • Reputation and fame
  • Love
  • Children and creativity
  • People and blessings
  • Career
  • Spiritual growth

Bedroom Feng Shui

This is the most important room of a house so be sure to use Feng Shui there.

This room must be free from gadgets such as computers, TV and exercise equipment. The air must also freely flow in this space so make sure that there is daylight during the morning.

Kitchen Feng Shui

This is the heart of your home so the energy here must be one of abundance and wealth.

Here are some don’ts for the kitchen –

  • Don’t place it near the bathroom.
  • Don’t place it near a staircase.
  • Never place it adjacent to the laundry room.
  • Don’t place the kitchen at the very center of your house.

Is Your Bedroom Dressed Up for Winter?

Saturday, January 26th, 2019

Can you picture yourself curling under the sheets in this Fine Furniture Design Bedroom Bedford Pineapple Post Queen Bed? The vision’s just perfect.

The chill in the air just confirms that winter is still around. It is quite appealing to just crawl under the sheets and just hibernate. But this hibernation will only be made possible by comfortable and soft mattress and pillows.

The great news is, if your bed still isn’t on par with the standards of comfort, then you still have time to transform it. And as soon as you’re done changing a few things, you can already curl up in your comfy bed and sleep through the cold weather.

So, what should you do to achieve this level of comfort?

Change the Sheets

Altering the sheets will make a big difference. Don’t worry, it’s not too late. Sure, you could use the cotton sheets still but you might miss out on the warmth and comfort that different options could offer.

Take, for instance, some new flannel sheets. These are soft and warm but they are also durable. Do you wanna have a more luxurious sheet? Then opt for silk. This is also a naturally hypoallergenic material. It is even better than cotton when it comes to insulation, meaning, you’ll feel warmer under silk sheets.

If you’re not thinking of buying new sets of sheets for now, then you can just pile the blankets and add to the thickness of the current layer. This is definitely not the best option especially when you easily sweat under thick sheets.

Use an Electric Blanket or Heating Pad

You might have observed that even when you have already added more blankets that the temperature is still too cold; if this is the case, then you can warm up the bed by using an electric blanket. Use this before you slip under the sheets.

Use a bit of caution when using a heating pad or an electric blanket, though. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions as well as other safety tips from the Electrical Safety Foundation International.

Add More Pillows and Throws

You don’t just add warmth when you put more throws and pillows inside the bedroom, you also create texture.

Scour your closets for the pillows and throws that have rich and luxurious materials. The bedroom design can be infused with materials such as fur, leather, velvet, and cable knit. You can stick to just one texture or experiment with several others. You can always layer should you consider having more than one.

A faux fur throw that’s carefully placed in an accent chair or on the foot of a bed is the best scene-stealer. It is also awesome for those chilly nights.

Flannel can also be a rich, luxurious alternative for a fluffy surface. It is also known to be an effective material that retains heat.

Ample Lighting

Since you’ll have longer nights, you need to plan how to light the bedroom. Since there’s an apparent lack of sunshine, you can scatter the lights all around the bedroom so that you’ll achieve a glow that will make it appear that you’re illuminating from within.

You may use incandescent lamps so you can have a warmer glow inside this room. Such bulbs mimic the sun’s glow. To optimize the impact, you can have multiple bulbs or sconces flanking your bed. If not, then the go-to lighting fixture is a chandelier.

Enough candles in the room (just be careful that you don’t start a fire) could help you achieve hygge.

Use Lighter Colors

The Scandi design often incorporates light colors even inside the bedroom. Where else can you better get some design tips than the Scandinavians themselves? They have the longest winter seasons so they know how to design their homes during such times.

Infuse shades of white, gray, and pale blues in the bedroom.

Decorative Headboard: An Interesting Focal Point

Thursday, January 24th, 2019

Drexel Bedroom Queen Headboard 153-312HB

Can you imagine a world where there weren’t any headboards? You might answer to the affirmative but did you ever stop to consider what the reason is behind the creation of this interesting part of furniture?

Many might say that the headboard is there to make the bed look more aesthetically pleasing, however, it is much more than this. Did you know that it can serve as a back support, as a buffer for a cold wall, and it is even believed to help with Feng Shui.

The Headboard History

Let’s backtrack a little. The headboard has a long history. In fact, it has gone through so many changes over the years. It was originally made to act as a barrier against the cold, meaning, it was chiefly made so that the person who sleeps will remain warm.

Headboards were originally just made of wood because it is less conductive, thermally. They used to have thick end pillars so that there’s ample space between the bed and the wall. This also allows the cold air to fall to the floor instead of the bed.

Not everyone had a headboard in the old days. It was a symbol of belonging to a higher social class. And the more elaborate the designs, the more expensive the headboards were. The poor families created theirs from cloth and straw.

Extra support and cushions were born when this bed part reached Ancient Greece. Pretty soon, there were already headboards made of silver, ebony, and even gold. Back then, the headboards were mainly for showing off rather than used for comfort.

Designing Headboards

If you’re wishing to alter the look of your bedroom but are still not sure where to start, then you can always begin with a statement headboard. This will easily set the tone for the entire bedroom.

First, you can introduce pattern through the headboard. Patterns on the headboard will surely become the focal point in the room. Alternatively, a plain headboard is an effective way to break up a rather bold wallpaper. Imagine a monochrome room where the square headboard mimics the geometric designs on the wallpaper; just add some pillows and a sleek bedside table and you’re done.

You can also look for wicker, rattan, and bamboo style headboard which will serve as retro style pieces. Any of these will render a Boho look for your bedroom. Should you grow tired of this look, then you can always paint the piece with a different color.

The headboard can also be the creative piece in a mainly white room. Pick a fabric with striking pattern and have this repeated on pillows and throws. Dot the shades that you used on these pieces throughout the room. Use white linen to cover your bed and highlight the accessories that you have chosen.

If you want to create the headboard using your favorite fabric, you can make one or cover an already existing frame.

Take note that the headboard can also be contemporary. Octagonal tiles can also be installed on the wall. These will serve as a the decorative element which will also be perceived as the headboard. You can also use stencils or wooden planks.

Add more glamour to the bedroom by using tactile fabrics like velvet. Vintage style headboard is a luxurious addition to any bedroom. This can come in any rich or bold color such as moss green, chartreuse or even fuchsia.

Lastly, you can also use the headboard as a storage panel. This box shelf can be a place to put your glass of water in the evening or even a home for some of your favorite books.

Solving the Bed Bug Problem…For Good

Tuesday, August 28th, 2018

iComfort® by Serta Mattresses Epic™

What facial expression do you make when you hear about bed bugs? That’s right, they’re worth a thousand blench. And, yes, these pests need to be eradicated right away but they are so good at surviving because they crawl, jump, and they can even fly. So what needs to be done?

Know Your Enemy

It is important that you get to know what you’re up against. These little oval insects feed on the blood of warm-blooded animals. Humans are warm-blooded, ergo, they get fed on. These can also live in any area in your home, not just your bedroom. So check out for them in those tiny cracks and textiles.

Bed bugs love to infest box springs, mattresses, and bed frames, though. It’s because they are nocturnal creatures that are most active during the night.

Fortify Your Home

Very first on the list is this – do not buy second-hand furniture. Invest only in the best kinds of mattresses and be sure to protect these with a cover that will encase the box springs and the mattress itself. High-quality encasement is able to resist tearing, thus, the possibility of a bed bug infestation.

Say Goodbye to Clutter

Treat clutter like an enemy. And this enemy of yours is the best friend of bed bugs since they tend to live in dirty areas. Be wary of those crevices and cracks but be more wary of keeping the clutter to zero. Plus, having less to zero clutter means the problem can be easier to solve when the exterminators finally come.

Another way to keep your bedroom and the rest of your home clean is to frequently vacuum. While this is not a hundred percent effective in getting rid of bed bugs, still, it is an equipment that can capture majority of these pests’ population.

Vigilance in Laundering

You have to be very vigilant when you’re sharing laundry facilities. Use plastic bags in transporting the items that are about to be washed. If there is already an infestation in your home, then be sure to use a new plastic bag when you go home.

If you live in a multi-family facility, then be sure to isolate your space with door sweeps and sealing crevices and cracks. And if you can, invest in a mobile heating chamber in order to treat items that are probably infested.

The Anti-Bed Bug Mattress

Now let’s just be clear here. There isn’t a single mattress that’s a hundred-percent bed bug-free. It’s because these insects can sleep in almost virtually anything – in seams, tufts, and even under your sheets.

But, here’s the thing, it has been observed that highly dense materials such as those used on latex and memory foams keep the bed bugs out of the center of the mattress. Also, it pays that you purchase a good cover for your mattress. The best covers can even help you spot an infestation (although, let’s hope this is prevented rather than treated) and even contain them while waiting for the exterminators to arrive.

Here’s the thing – bed bugs hate certain chemicals and heat so you could go straightaway to professional extermination.

Let’s Shop

If you’re thinking of buying a memory foam mattress, then you have to know that there’s a lot of them out there. The traditional memory foam is the one that’s designed to provide a cradling support that decreases stress on joints while also enhancing circulation.

The open cell type responds more quickly so you don’t feel like sinking when you lie down at night. The gel memory foam is best at dispersing heat.

You may also consider shopping for latex, high quality innerspring, and natural fiber mattresses.

Natural Lighting in the Bedroom (Or Should It be Left Dark?)

Friday, August 3rd, 2018

The windows play a huge role in brightening up this bedroom. Featured is the Etheral Cal King Bed from the Veranda Collection of Fine Furniture Design.

The bedroom is a sanctuary of sorts. This is a place of relaxation and rest. It is a place where you are supposed to feel rejuvenated. Though this is the room where you are supposed to sleep, this does not mean that it should be bathed in darkness 24/7.

Having a brighter bedroom is a good way to find your way more easily around the space during the morning. It is not forbidden to infuse bright colors or even to install lights that are supposed to energize the occupant. After all, the right kind of lighting can make you feel more cheerful and would even help you have a positive outlook in life.

So, what do you need to do to make the bedroom drink in natural light and for it to be a place of retreat, not dullness?

Say Goodbye to Old Furniture

The first thing that you need to consider is to freshen up the bedroom by replacing old furniture. Those big ticket stuff in this space are your bed and the wardrobe. If these look battered and old, then it would be impossible to find rest in that space, or worse, you will not feel motivated to even get up in the morning.

Dark and old furniture [pieces don’t belong in a room where such pieces are magnified. If you really have to have a dark-colored bed, then be sure to have the rest of your décor in a more uplifting color. Be mindful of the stuff that you pick. If needful, you can always add a fresh paint coating.

Decorate the Bedroom Walls

The walls are a major element in your bedroom. They have the power to brighten up or darken the room depending on what colors you used to paint them. Dreary and dark paint will instantly dampen the bedroom ambiance. Since this is so, you would need to steer clear of dark paint colors.

If you want your bedroom walls to pop, then apply a fresh coat of paint. You also have a wide array of options for wallpapers. As you choose the color for your walls, consider the mood that you would want to evoke there.

Wall decals and art are also awesome ways to effortlessly add vibrancy and splashes of colors in the bedroom. Be sure to shop around and find the ones that also represent the same bedroom theme as yours.

Harmonize.

Use a White and Black Theme

The color scheme that is often referred to as black and white is known to draw in the brightest features that can reflect light. Be sure to use white as the main hue while having black as the accent color. Add just a few pieces of dark furniture when you have a mainly white backdrop. Even a simple black bedding will up the look of the bedroom.

As for the bedroom’s window treatments, be sure to use soft fabrics and sleek lines only. You can layer, though, when you add drapes and blinds. Together, these can add depth to your bedroom. It is an effective way to add charm and color.

You can also, according to design experts, layer dual drape styles. The inner drapes can be thin while the outer ones become the decorative part. Light and cheerful colors help in opening up the space. Open the windows during the day so that you let in some breeze, thus, freshening up the room.

Cozy and Cheerful Bedding and Pillows

Speak of bedding, this is one of the most important elements that you need to seriously think about. It is not just a piece of fabric that keeps you warm at night but also one that will increase the level of coziness and aesthetic appeal.

You need to update, therefore, the bedding as well as the pillows. There isn’t a shortage of choices when it comes to these two things but you have to choose well.

Decorating the Master Bedroom According to Your Style

Thursday, July 26th, 2018

Capel Incorporated Floor Coverings Homecoming Rug 0048CS Chestnut Brown

The bedroom is that spot where you’re supposed to unwind after a long day at work or in school. But if this space has become more of a stress than a place of relaxation lately, then it’s high time to set it up for an upgrade. Welcome to your master bedroom decorating guide.

Not a lot of people spend a lot of time decorating their bedrooms. These are rooms, after all, that are not seen by visitors, hence, they often end up neglecting them.

Rest and Relax

Okay, in creating a more restful master bedroom, you have to go back to the basics. Ask yourself – what is this room for?

Of course to rest and relax! Since this is supposed to be a place for a retreat, you have to bring in the elements that make it so. Jars and baskets of essential oils, soaps, bubble baths, etc.

Create an Accent Wall

The accent wall is that differently-colored wall in a space. This is an effective way to liven up space, though, you have to be extra careful in choosing the color that you paint it with. If you’re gearing to have a warm color, then use shades of red, orange or yellow. These colors tend to pull the beholder’s eyes towards that accent wall.

A perfect wall to use a warm accent color on is that long, narrow bedroom wall. Painting this space offers a more balanced look.

As for the cool color enthusiasts, you should look into blues, greens, and the lighter tints of purple. These tend to pull the away the attention, thus, making a room appear larger. When you use a cool color as an accent wall in a small bedroom, then you make it appear larger. This cool color will also give the impression that you actually have a higher ceiling.

Using a bedroom accent wall is also being ready to define the visual temperature in your room of relaxation. The east or north facing bedroom should use warm hues since they tend to appear cooler. As for the south or west facing rooms, these should be painted with a cool hue in order to lower the visual temperature.

Install an Accent Rug

So now, how do you choose the area rug that will help define your bedroom? The general rules are simple –

  • First, the area rug must not touch any of the bedroom walls. Leave five inches between the area rug’s edges from the wall.
  • An area rug must never push against any of the large pieces of furniture inside the bedroom such as the bed, the wardrobe or a drawer.
  • If you have to choose an area rug for a tiny bedroom, then don’t go shopping for an equally tiny one. Instead, find a large area rug that will almost fill up the space leaving just a few inches that are bare.
  • The area rug must not be at a location where the bedroom door swings. If there’s no way around it, then the bedroom door should be high enough to not drag the rug.

Add ‘Em Candles

Don’t forget to bring in those romantic candles. What could be more relaxing than to look at these flickering lights once you dim the other lights?

The candles are a wonderful addition because of their aromatic benefits. The most relaxing fragrances include vanilla, lavender, and chamomile.

Create a Gallery Wall

The gallery wall is often set up in a living room but never in a bedroom. Why not create one in the master bedroom for a change?

Choose artwork, photos or abstract pieces which you can gather to create that master bedroom gallery wall.

What Is A Dreamy Bedroom (Part 2)?

Thursday, July 19th, 2018

Achieving the dreamy bedroom is easy with the Lazarus King headboard from the Meritage Collection of Fine Furniture Design.

Previously, we discussed the first three things that could make up a dreamy bedroom which are –

  • Picking the right bedroom color
  • Bedroom cleanup
  • And the incorporation of Feng Shui.

Here are other tips that can help you achieve quality sleep –

Block Out the Light

Did you notice that keeping a night light could sometimes get in the way of quality sleep? So why should we sleep in the dark?

The human body is programmed to sleep only in darkness. This means you have to – not just minimize but to completely turn off any glowing gadgets such as your laptop screen, computer monitor, even your clock radio.

Chronic exposure to these lights during the night can be bad. This has a lot to do with the circadian rhythmicity. During the day, mankind has sunlight but, at night, we only have the stars and the moon. Mankind’s biological programming remembered these and so man is programmed to sleep in complete darkness.

Moonlight is a totally different lighting compared to artificial lights. LAN or artificial lighting at night is less powerful than the sun but a lot greater than moonlight. Melatonin suppression is to be blamed in understanding why LAN is not good for man.

The brain’s pineal gland produces melatonin during sleep. It helps in regulating the sleep-wake cycle, lowering the blood pressure as well as the body temperature and glucose levels. The brain has a group of cells right at the hypothalamus which responds to dark and light signals. Once these group of cells senses that there is light, then it tells the brain to wake up.

Other body processes then kick-start such as the production of cortisol and raising body temperature. So when you are aiming to improve the quality of your sleep, it’s as simple as turning off the nightlight when you’re ready to sleep.

Use Quality Sheets and Mattress

You know what’s tragic? When you recently bought a mattress and you’re still suffering from back pain.

If this is happening to you, then it is probable that you have chosen the wrong kind of mattress to sleep in. So what kind of mattress does your body need?

The answer to this widely varies. With a lot of mattress types, it is not just about your preferences but also about a little science that could make or break your sleep. The hybrid type of mattress is made with a fusion of polyurethane foam, latex, memory, coils, and/or various other materials.

The hybrid type is best for people who want to have a little bounce but also want support. These are sleepers who expect comfort together with a cool fabric.

The latex type, on the other hand, is best for people who also want a cool mattress that has a great bounce. Also, it is a foam that is highly responsive, meaning, for sleepers who love a good foam but are veering away from the contour of memory foam.

The third type is the memory foam which best known for its body contouring, pressure relief, and amazing support. This is for sleepers who want a great body hug.

The coil type of mattress is for the sleeper who needs the traditional feel of spring. It has an amazing bounce and cooling effect. For those who want cushion comfort, the mattress type to invest in is the pillow-top.

As for the sheets, find the ones that are not heavy and rough. Remember that the higher the thread count, the better. Also, be sure to get sheets that are temperature-regulated. Use microfiber or bamboo sheets.

Don’t forget to regularly clean your bedroom as well.
