Black is probably the most misunderstood color in the whole, wide world. It is so bold that many people find it intimidating. It can evoke dark feelings. This is not a common go-to color in terms of home décor or interior design. Most homes with many family members do not believe that this is the color to use to induce bonding and harmony.

Black is classy, though. It is sophisticated in so many ways yet it is not for the amateur to handle. This is the color to use when you want to create fashionable and chic color schemes for a work space, even a kitchen. As long as you use it the right way, you will see how black can help you tell a wonderful story. It can even be paired with any color to achieve harmony.

Black Furniture

Black is often a complementary color. This is one of its finest advantages. So, whether you are planning to decorate the bedroom or the living room, black furniture can powerfully change the dimension in that room.

A beautiful black sofa and any coffee table is a pair that will provide a stunning contrast especially when placed on a bright-colored backdrop like powder yellow. Furniture is often the focal point of a design. For instance, adding a vase of colorful, fresh roses atop a hardwood tabletop plus a lush carpet below will surely be an ambience that’s worth noticing.

Black Spells Artistic

Black is a major enhancer of architectural structures. This is a color that adds an artistic flair so go ahead and paint the trim, molding or doors with black. Use green or aqua blue on walls to contrast with a calming effect. Use high gloss paint on concrete floors or any old wood furniture.

Use black in accessories and drapes to achieve cohesion.

Black Walls

Black may seem scary or even tricky but you must stop fearing this color if you want to use it effectively in your home. One can always use a change of color on your walls. Pick one wall as a focal wall then design it with horizontal or vertical stripes. You can also use marigold or auburn as foundations or simply choose any patterned wallpaper with hints of black on it.

Damask or paisley prints in black and white will also add a different kind of appeal in your home.

Black Accessories

Accessories are your best friends when you are out to pick a color scheme. When you use two solid colors, it is wise to incorporate black in the room. Use it on accent pieces such as clocks, vases, rugs or photo frames. These should add a cool yet classy vibe that would never compete with the overall design.

Always think of black as a solution when you’re on the edge. A room that is aching for a makeover would do well to have black.

Black Trim

Black may have a contradictory character but its use on the finishing touches of any room could provide the needed highlight. This is why black is often used on vaulted ceiling beams. This is a color that can effectively absorb light, thus, make sure that you use it with caution.

Black may appear unhappy or negative but if you use it correctly, it could also look trendy. Use it on window frames not just the exposed ceiling beams. Highlight other beautiful architectural details of your home. You could use high-gloss or lower sheen for the trimming.

Black is especially beautiful on windows and door casings, mantels and pillars. It is also perfect on the crown molding and just about any other architectural elements that outline a room.
